Hoping someone has a rain tray water deflector so the water does not fall straight in on my coil, heater and other item living in the rain tray.

They only came on post 80 Mk1s Mik, all the early cars got a little tray only.
You could always block the vents from underneath with a bit of plastic stuck to the bonnet, or make a metal tray like I did for that car.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists

I managed to buy a new one a couple of years ago from the US I think.
The '79 GLDs all had them, they're mostly pretty stuffed now though.
I usually run black silastic over the cracks and spray them black.
