Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW 15x6 100PCD for Mk1

    Hi,

    Anyone out there got a set of 15 x 6 4 stud 100 PCD wheels for a Mk1?

I see that someone has some 14 inch E30's which would be ok, but it's a lot
easier to find second hand 15 inch R-spec tyres than 14 inch...

I'm not too fussed if they are alloys or steelies - they're for track days.
(ok alloys would be good, but I'll settle for steelies)

    Any offers?

    Ian.

Hello Ian, been a while mate.

I have some SEAT Ibiza 14" Syeelies which are ugly but light with good rubber.

    Or some 15s.

You might have to come for a visit and see if you recognize the place

Yeah, sorry Matt - I've been a wee bit slack
The GTI's still going strong (even the handbrake cables!).
I'll post a separate reply about that....

14's will fit obviously (that's what I'm using now) - the problem is that second hand 14 inch R spec tyres just don't exist. 15 inch Yohohama A048's are not too hard to find because they're used in various categories, but 14's...

New Federal's are available at a sane price new, but 14's again are not available in 205's.

Someone I know gets 13's (which are available), but these won't go over the big brakes on the GTI.

So, what have you got in 15's?

BTW, I just want the rims - I actually don't want (or at least need) rubber on them...

I will visit one day to see what you've done with the place

      Ian.
