  • TAS A carby to suit my 1.8L Mk1 Engine

have got a rebuilt 1.8L waiting to go into my Mk1

I dont want to use the twin 40MM webers as i daily the car and its great on fuel as is.

Basically looking for standard carb to suit it. Mine is old and is leaking fuel, and the rubber mounting block is leaking air.

Have heard that a later model (MK2/3??) carby and manifold will suit. and it dont use the rubber block, just 4 bolts to manifold.

Anyway shoot me a msg with what you got, not looking for a weber or anything. just a good condition stocko

    Regards

mk 2/3 don't use carbs... unless you're talking about single point injection of 1.8 mk 3's, but that's still EFI not carb.

your best bet will be to get a weber 32/36 DGV style carb. These are easy to tune , rebuild and much more available than std carbs, since they came on many escorts gemini's etc. and are actually came standard on 2.0L engines, so it's much more suited to your application. You'll need a passat manifold though to bolt it on. These carbs come up everynow and then on ebay, in various conditions & prices.

Dont use a standard carb, it'd would be a waste of time and energy. imo.

    just my 4 cents. hth.

you can buy new rubber mounting blocks. they're just gaskets and are a replaceable itme anyways.

      Carby for Mk1

If you take Jarred's advice I have a reco'd 32/36 weber on manifold, that was to go on a now abandoned upgrade to my '78Mk1 5dr. The upgrade has been forced to be abandoned due to a truck behind me at a stop sign abandoning normal braking procedures###**!@ and writing-off the back end of the Mk1.

Yours for $120 plus shipping if you are interested.
