Need new gearbox

With the exception of the ditherers in my last post, things gave gone down dramatically. The 4spd is all but shot and parts are harder to find, even the simple task of removing the bolts to put fresh oil and additive have become a **** due to my mechanically inadequate. These concerned have exacerbated greatly due to both my parents in Dubbo, who are elderly and ill. Some of you older forum members may remember my daily battle with Bipolar and being a single Dad. Things are much better so I can handle this other ****. Perhaps someone has a box somwhere, i could transfer or Bpay before I pick it up.

Nope. Passats have north/south motors, and yes, they're still front wheel drive.

Have you tried Volksparts? He has lots of old vws on a farm near Goulburn.

Hi all, thanks for replying the car is a 1974 VW Passat LS that originally had a 1.5 until Matt put a flying SEAT 1.8. It looks at this at this stage that Nick at Volksparts may be the go with a $150 lottery based gearbox, Leanne at Volksbahn has a wagon coming in this week so I might get lucky their. It would seem that a 5spd is pie in the sky stuff. I also have another mechanic willing to pull it apart to see what's wrong, but I think that will be the last choice.
