  • Mkv R32 Oem Rims [wanted To Buy]

Hey guys just wanting to see wether any one was thinking of parting with their OEM MKV R32 rims. Looking for genuine and not the "omanyt" variety, to replace my existing battered set.

Otherwise does anyone know what the dealer charges for a set of these. I did consider the replica option, although cheaper had concerns as to the strutural rigidity of these alloys and overall effects on my warranty.

Really only the front two rims that are in poor shape, but knowing the dealers i could probably get a complete set for the price they charge per corner.

As a reference guide these are what im after.

I think you'll find these wheels (among most) are quite expensive from the dealer I remember someone selling a set a fair while back in the classifieds section, but as far as it goes that's the only place you'll find some available on this site.

I don't know the exact dealer price though. It all depends how much you're okay with paying! Hope that helps.

Avoid the Stealer at all costs!! They wanted $2200 for a set of 17in Polo GTI rims, so I hate to think what they are charging for 18in R32 rims!!

There are many crap replicas out there but there are also good replica's available with TUV approval. If they have passed these high standards then you're assured they have passed stringent tests and will be fine. I imported a set of replica MKV rims last year that came with a TUV approval cert.

        Here is some info:

"TUV is a German acronym for Technischer Überwachungs-Verein. TUV are German organizations that work to validate the safety of products of all kinds to protect humans and the environment against hazards. Automotive components must be approved by TUV in order to be sold and installed on road going vehicles in Germany. The requirements for TUV approval are very stringent. Many of the aftermarket wheels and other automotive parts produced in Asia and even in the United States would fail TUV approval and be deemed unsafe. By being certified by TUV, one can be assured that the product has passed the most stringent of safety and reliability qualifications."

If I had an R32 and was wanting to replace the original wheels with the same type, I would not go replica. That would be a down grade.

Keep an eye on these forums and eBay as they do pop up every now and then. Omanyts seem to be more commonly available though.

If they were my rims, I'd get a quote to have them professionally repaired before doing anything else, there are some excellent repairers who can make them like new again.

Yeah i got quoted $1350 ex gst, for a set of two rims. I think that was even with abit of coercing!

I came across a post and some lucky person managed to snag a set from ebay at $800. For that price i would have bought it just to onsell them!

I kind of do need the rims, though as someone they have managed to become bent. I'm going to try my luck at getting these warrantied through my dealership where the car was bought.

Just part of the VW buying experience i guess.

I would consider Omanyt although i consider them a step-down to the Zolder alloys. However at least wheel maintenance is reduced by a margin.

Hahahahah i thought about going this avenue and saving a pretty penny, but read comments from people here the R32 alloys are very difficult to repair based on the design. In addition i actually have "bent" rims , so not exactly alittle bit of curb rashing.

Although if anyone can pass me a line on a place dealing specifically with bent alloys and has a superceded reputation i'd be willing to give them a shot.

If you can find a repair place in Sydney with a good reputation go and have a chat to them, let them have a look and see if they can give you some guidance. They will either say yay or nay. If they have a good rep they aren't going to lead you up the garden path.

Also, if you can find the right set of replicas with TUV approval, they won't be a downgrade from a set of bent and supposedly un-repairable originals.

The Zolder wheels are $850 per corner from the dealer.

Totally agree. See a reparier first, but originals as a second option.

My front left got a light scrape, and i am so annoyed as i don't recall where it happened. I was away for a few days though and my wife does have a set of keys (for shifting duties only)... the scratch does have her "signature" all over it...

                        Starting my investigation now.

But i will be looking for a reparier as a first option.

They're rashed and thus probably a damned sight cheaper than an unmarked set, but I suspect they'd be easily repaired.
