  • WTB: Mk1 Golf bonnet insulation and choke cable [Melb]

After a few bits and pieces after my car kinda caught fire.
    • Mk1 Golf under bonnet liner/insulation (Or a yellow bonnet that is not bent)
To suit non-swallowtail bonnet, if there is a difference
I can get pics if you're not sure what I'm on about
    • Mk1 Golf Choke cable and cable bracket
Any choke cable will do, as long as it isn't freyed, like mine.
Once again, pics if someone needs confirmation, but I'd believe they are the same across the board.

Would like these parts in melbourne, but am happy to take my search interstate if I'm struggling here.

    Cheers

I've bought Thu-fit underbonnet insulation kit for $64 shipped. If you can't find original 2nd hand one, you can consider that option.

        Mika,

Only the diesels had the insulation. Every other MK1 is just bare under the bonnet. As your car has been converted to a petrol motor I wouldn't imagine you'd need to worry too much about replacing the insulation in a hurry. It does make things quieter though.

Your choke cable is probably a diesel part too.

        Hope this helps,

        Pete

i've seen in repco a generic choke kit, i'd imagine a few other larger, more reputable stores should have similar items too.

Hmmm...I'd prefer to get a genuine VW choke cable...Mine is just freyed at the choke end, so it gets stuck open often.

I'm still keen on a choke cable if someone has one, otherwise I'll see if i can modify the current one in some way.
