Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WTB: 4 x 100 spacers - 5-7mm

I have a bit of a rubbing issue that needs to be resolved with some wheels that have slightly less offset than I need on the rear of the MK1.

I need 2 for the rear and now realise that i need 2 for the front to clear the brake caliper.

About 5 - 7 mm should get me to the point where I can run without rubbing on the springs.

Anyone got something that they care to offload, sort of quickly in Sydney?

I prefer hub centric. I was not aware you could get them so easily but will most likely get some autopro ones in the mean time until what I want comes up.

I got some spacers, not hub centric, still wanting 8-10mm pair and a 5mm pair.

            Cheers.

                Hi Alex,

I will get in touch with you about this - I think that I will take you up on it.

So I would require longer hub to axle bolts for assembly I'm assuming?

                Thanks for the offer!

Mik use what Al is saying, I'm running them on the mk1 and they are more safer than a hubcentric spacer!!!

                    lol. more safer

if you have clearance issues with brakes, then stub axle spacing wont do much. stub axle spacers are more for 'less-illegal' rear track widening and suspension strut clearance.

The fact is that you aren't putting any pressure on the wheel bearings!

And why would it give you brake clearances for mk1s with drum brakes?
