Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Do you have the roof rails?

On the Auid we have the rails and bought rola racks as the cross pieces.

You can then get Rola or other brand bike stands to bolt to these.

yeap, I've got the original vw roof rails.
I think there is something made by Rola that can fit inside the groove which will allow me to attach their bike carriers, I'm going to have to look on their website for the right parts and adaptors.

So on closer inspection we have ROLA roof rails for the crossover pieces.
The front and rear of the car are different widths 1m and 90cm from memory, so I shortened one bar.

The Bike Rack part is Thule and fits onto the same slots on the ROLA.

We have had 2 mountain Bikes on it and it is pretty steady.
Mostly we just carry BMXs though and they are lighter and so you forget they are there.

The ROLA slots are pretty universal, we have a ski carrying holder that fits in there too

Pic for you. Hope it helps.

Thanks heaps for that, looks like thule is the goer.
Either the Proride 591 or the Outride 561 would be fine for me.

I seriously had no idea where to look other than the dealers and my local autobarn.
