Hi all, as we're all german car enthusiasts here I hope you'll excuse my benz addiction!
I'm currently keeping an eye out for a Mercedes Benz 190D or 200D with a Diesel engine (or may consider a 4cyl petrol) in what was known as the W110 chassis - more commonly referred to as a 'Finnie' or 'Fintail' due to their distinctive rear tailfins. These models were built between 1961 and 1968. The first few digits of the chassis number should be "110110...." or "WDB110110...."
Here's what a 190D looks like - this was the first series that ran from 1961 to 1965. They had a very plain front with the indicators mounted on top of the fenders just in front of the windscreen like little 'ears'.

On the side, you can see the fins that start at the edge of the rear door and come to a point just above the rear bumper.

The rear you can see the fins with their chrome edge. The badge should read 190D or 200D (the one in this photo is a petrol model 190 but the diesels have the same body)

Here is a series 2 model - 1965-1968. The indicators are now below the headlights.

The tail lights changed slightly for series 2, and there was no chrome edge on the fins.

The fintail models also have a very distinctive speedo, kind of like a ribbon speedometer fitted to many british cars of the 60's, but vertical.

Preferably looking for something local (Adelaide area) but willing to travel across the border as far as Melbourne. Happy to consider anything from barn finds to running/rego'd cars, but as it's my money I reserve the right to be a fussy b@$?@rd (and cannot guarantee a seller that I will buy their car!)
I thought I'd put this out there as I realise that it might be a while before one of these shows up - having said that, I know the diesels are out there and have heard of one or two for sale locally over the past few years. Any leads or hot tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thankyou all in advance!
