Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Mk5 jetta votex side skirts + extras

    Hey fellas.
Not wanting to run these anymore.
We're probably on the car for 1.5 months. They've been sitting in the garage for 4-5months.

They're painted platinum grey and are in very good condition.
    Professionally painted.

I'd like to get $450 for them.

I also have a mk5 steering wheel (no paddles but has multifunction buttons) - perfect condition.
Open to offers on that one.

And I also have some mk5 gti springs.
    $50 for them.

One last thing. Almost forgot them.
A set of oem classix wheels. In reasonable condition. Some rash from previous owner..
    17x7.5"
    Et54
Running 225x45x17 sport contact 3's that have under 2000km on them. Basically new...
Would like $500-600 for these. (Can get pics for interested parties)

    Located North side Brisbane.
    Prefer pickup but can post.

    Cheers.

Keen on springs, depending on freight costs to Adelaide.
    Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.

This may be a dumb question, but anyone know if the skirts would fit a MkV Golf ?

Hey stuwey. Unfortunately it looks like I've either thrown the springs out or misplaced them.
I've looked everywhere and cannot find them.
            So sorry!
I'll try and search again tomorrow.

Side skirts should fit a golf, i bought a set of GTi Golf side skirts for my Jetta, they are the right length but the rear section would overlap up on my rear doors if fitted, but these don't have that section and the length would be correct
07 Jetta Tdi, DSG(tuned),Gtb1756vk turbo, 3inch dump, Malone tune, 4bar map, EGR+EGR Cooler delete, S3 Intercooler, Hard pipe kit, Gti rear sway bar, 18x8 Enkeii gtc01, nitto tyres, Rear Lip Spoiler, Votex Front Lip, Slotted and drilled rear Discs, Neuspeed springs, LED interior lights, Blackened window trims, Carbon covered pillars, Gti lower front Grill, canbus update, rcd510, tinted indicators, gti paddle shift wheel, soon to have Votex Side Skirts, Coilovers, Porsche Brakes,8mm wheel spacers, Alloy control arms, GTI front sway bar, S3 bushings....

I looked in to this very recently and they have a different treatment around the rear wheel arch to the GTI ones (hence the different part codes). The GTI ones have a shark fin kick-up on them. The GTI ones are also not designed to be painted (unlike the R32 version).

They are the correct length and will fit but I decided I wanted the GTI styling so I didn't do anything with it.

                MY14 Tiguan 118TSI - sold (Mazda3 SP25GT in its place)

What we are trying to say is:
VW GTi ones don't fit a Jetta as the rear taller section is a different size, hence why i have a set sitting in my garage.
VORTEX ones for a golf will however fit a Jetta as they are correct length and don't have that section.

I know what you are saying and I wasn't saying you were wrong. I was simply pointing out that they are styled differently for a reason. The shark fin on the GTI ones is to provide the line continuity/transition between the front and rear bumpers. This is also why they are unpainted.
