  • ACT Mk4 R32 Engine - Complete but unassembled

Late last year I bought a Mk4 R32 engine which was going to be turbocharged and dropped into my Polo GTI as part of a major project. As I changed my plans and decided to sell the Polo the R32 engine is now surplus to my needs.

This is the 3.2L V6 from a Mk4 R32. At some point prior to me buying it the engine was stripped down, the cylinders were honed and the pistons and valves cleaned up. I have no idea why the engine was stripped down but as I was planning on upgrading all the internals anyway to deal with forced induction that wasn't an issue.

I've had the block and head checked by my VW mechanic and there are no cracks or other issues we can see; a couple of fluid pipes on the outside of the block have been bent slightly but that's all.

The engine came with a box of new gaskets (for the head and exhaust manifold), the intake manifold including throttle body, exhaust manifold and down pipe and some other bits & pieces. Basically if it's in the photos below then it's included with the engine, and if you can't see something specific let me know and I'll take another look through the parts.

We obviously never got around to rebuilding the engine so I make no guarantees that it will run once reassembled, but that said my mechanic could not see any issues that would prevent it from running and I wouldn't have bought it if it was just going to be a boat anchor. I strongly recommend you inspect it for yourself if you're interested.

I'm looking for around $2500 for everything. The engine is located in the ACT.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Damn. This would be a really nice upgrade for the wife's bora. Pity there's no ecu and loom.
      Oh and no cash either.

Good luck with the sale. Should make a nice engine once reassembled.

Wow - good spot! I've got a couple of intakes sitting in the same spot - I didn't even notice I snapped a pic of a V5 one...

          Will update that this morning!

Obviously I'd prefer to a sell the engine in one lot, but I'll let you know if it gets parted instead.

I've actually got 2 intakes for the engine - the original R32 intake and a later version. Both are VW parts, both are included with the sale.

I also got an interesting email this morning from HPA Motorsports in the US. They've got a new 'entry level' bolt-on turbo kit for this engine which could be installed without too much additional effort when re-assembling the engine - with this engine and the kit you're looking at a 260kW V6 for around $7500 plus labour. Would be a great drop-in upgrade for a Bora 4 Motion or Golf VR6.

Would love to have saw the buyers face if that manifold had went with it by mistake, be hilarious. Sorry found it very funny. Good luck with sale

Yes I know - not my brightest moment. This is why I pay people to turn spanners for me - if I was assembling that engine myself I'd probably still be looking for the 5-hole to 6-hole adapter piece that must be there somewhere...

I'm open to offers mate - engine is sitting at Gareth's Northside Europeans at the moment if you want to check it out. I've got no use for it any more so if it can find a good home locally that's even better!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a new track car, so am pretty keen to move this on quickly and more than happy to do a good deal...
