Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW EOI: 5 Speed Gearbox - MK1, 2 & 3 Golf - Good Condition

    Hi Guys,

    I am potentially thinking of selling my 5 speed gearbox out of the MK1.

    The gearbox code is FF and has the below specs;

    CODE R&P 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Overall Flanges Switch Mount

    FF 3.89 3.45 1.94 1.29 0.97 0.76 2.96 90mm Large Stud

    The box is in great condition, extremely quite with no noises at all. Have run Castrol VMX-80 for the entire time I have owned it.

    Perfect for a 4 to 5 speed conversion in a MK1 or as a replacement box in a MK2 & 3.

    Clutch was changed less than 5,000 ago and at the time I replaced all the seals in the gearbox, a new clutch lever spring and brass locator for the center push rod.

    Only reason I am selling is to change for a short ratio box to better suit my recent KR 16v conversion.

    The only thing to note is that the passenger side flange has sprung a leak recently, which will require a new seal around the flange. I can supply a new retainer spring which holds the flange in place as well for the person who purchases this box. But I think this seal is no more than $20 and a 15min job when the box is on the bench.

    Any questions please let me know.

    Asking $350

    Thanks
