Free to good or bad home, stock mk4 gti shocks and springs
No idea if this is something that would be useful for someone, but if anyone has some use for my stock suspension off my mk4 gti, please feel free to take them off my hands and out of my garage.
Front and Rear springs and shocks, used 95000km's.
Oh I didn't even consider that mate, are coilovers in breach of vicroads laws?
I run a somewhat "modest" height, can fit my thongs between wheel and arch
So I think I'm fine at running height, and I have pedders xa Xtreme which are adr approved?
But if you reckon there's a risk of getting a canary, then maybe I should hold onto them
Adr approved? Interesting!
From memory the regs didn't allow coils due to the adjustable spring seats... Got a pic of yours by any chance?
If they are adr approved can't see why they wouldn't pass..?

Well that's what I was told on purchase, could be completely wrong, in my research, I have read about the "locking screw" but I hardly see how thats different to the locking ring, apart from that fact it takes 5 minutes longer to adjust each coil.
I also have seen different stories, there is a dude on a calai forum who got given a canary purely for the fact he had coilovers, then after making further contact was exempted due to the pedders, and given a note to keep in vehicle for future use.
Whilst the web has basically told me, without an engineering certificate, they are illegal, unless coilovers are an option from factory.
It's all a very vague, and stupid system.
I'm a tad worried now, maybe I should hold onto them just in case? lol
But in saying that, feel free to borrow them in canary situations haha, im not that far from you.
If you're not very low, I highly doubt you'd get defected, you drive a VW after all!
My mk 3 was slammed (and I mean slammed) and I got defected for wheels! not even for being too low. I wouldn't worry.
I had always read the ADR relating to coilovers as IF the original suspension mounting mounts remain the same and they' can't be adjusted (height) whilst in motion (ie, no air ride) then they're ok. At the end of the day, I think it's probably up to the discretion of the RWC place, and I highly doubt the Police(wo)man would know you had coilovers on. Just my 2p.
