BUSINESS Group Buy: GTI Fabric for seat/interior retrimming

Hey guys,

Been looking for a while at getting the original GTI tartan fabric for retrimming my roof-lining - it's a VW design so you can't buy it from tartan fabricators (I had a company check the 'tartan register' for it!). After a quick search on ebay.de there are 2 companies which offer them in rolls of 1mx1.4m for approximately $85-90 excluding shipping.

So I'm seeing if anyone is looking for this pretty rare fabric for any interior work and whether they are interested in buying quite a big roll between a few of us.

I will have a final postage quote for different lengths monday/tuesday due to timezones etc, then I'm hoping to get ordering as early as March 12th so hurry and register your interest!

Ahh man I'm half gutted half made up your looking for this. Ive been looking for ages and ended up not finding any. So I went for a site that does create-your-own design upholstery. I literally drew up the design today.

I don't know if I want to anymore though if your both doing it haha. Thought I was being all original ha! Seems like originality and mk1s are two distinct words these days

If we order together, do you think they will agree to send different colours of their fabric or will we all have to buy the same colour?

Great find by the way buddy! Keen if I can get a diff colour.

Yeah guys - just been in touch with the company/ies and they're more than happy to send out more than one colour/pattern etc and with a pretty decent postage discount too.

For example they want $58 to ship my requirement of only 2m - however I enquired about 10m and it would only be $30 more - so pretty decent saving when split between everyone.

So I guess we need to work what lengths and patterns everyone wants and I'll put the final quote to them for an accurate price! I'm sure they'll do further discounts if we are ordering a lot! Especially because I've got two companies competing against eachother.

So far I want 2m of the Black and Red tartan. And Roccodingo wants 6m of various colours?

So please work it out for your budget as $95 (approximate, given today's exchange rate with NAB) per metre (x1.4m) and get back to me with what you would like!

Any updates on who's 100% down for this? I think I might order mine and get it shipped to my house in the UK and put it in a suitcase when I'm over there in 2 months. Might be able to do this for one other if we don't get a few people on board - let me know.

I'm dead keen but I have only just bought the mk1 rocco and it's on a transporter en route to my house - I should have it in the next couple of days. Once I've seen the interior I'll be able to make the call on it! If you place an order before then, that's fine though, I just can't commit before I have seen the seats.

Likely buy this direct and bring it home. Doing Europe later this year and i think it will fold down well in the suitcase
