I have these same wheels on my Skoda Octavia.
These rims are 7.5" wide rather than the more common 16x6.5" and around ET50. They fit perfectly on the Octy - fill the guards better than the std 6.5" ET50 rims & should do the same on the Golfs & Audis the OP mentioned. They will also fit Passat.
The Audi badge on the centre cap simply pops out & you can replace it with decals from ebay (about $6 posted).
The centrebore is ~66.6mm , so you'll need hub rings to centralise on the 57.1mm hubs. Mine cost me $10 from Tempe tyres.
The 225/55x16 tyres are a bit bigger in diameter than 205/55x16 but this was a good thing for me. It made my speedo accurate (3kmh under) rather than being 10kmh under at 110kmh. The tyres don't rub or foul anywhere.
