Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC FS: 2 x Stanfred Car Ramp 750kg

    Hi All

I've bought a set of ramps from Autobarn for about $79.90 and then realised that it's not suitable for my VW Golf GTI. First of all, the front of the GTI is too low for this ramp. I then tried to drive up the ramp by reversing onto it but found that the surface for which the ramp is placed on is too slippery thus it keeps slipping when my tires try to roll onto it.

The ramps were bought on Saturday 19/11/2011, so it's still as new. I can't return it as I've already tried to use it and its got some scratches on the frame. Instead of keeping this huge paperweight I'd let it go to a good home.

Here is a link to the item and it's description on a Supercheap website (Stanfred Car Ramp - Standard, Single, 750kg - Supercheap Auto Australia)

Any takers for this at $40? I still have the receipt. It's pickup only in Kensington, Victoria, given it's weight and cost its not worth posting. I can try drop this off if you're not too far from the CBD.

Please PM me and I'll do my best to respond ASAP.

mate, keep them, just go buy some 1" thick blocks of wood, maybe 2 foot long and wide enough so that it fits within the ramps track and you'll be fine, its because the ramp is so steep that you can get up it. stretch that angle out and you're laughing. thats what i did.

as for the slipping, it helps it have a friend hold the ramps with their feet, or you can brick them up?
