Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    NSW VAG-COM CAN BUS USB cable - ebay/dealextreme copy - older vehicles only

    I bought this cable off Deal Extreme (SKU 28526) foolishly thinking it would work on my Skoda Octavia (MED17 ECU). IIRC, it did connect but did nothing useful. I think it was about $45 at the time. Subsequently, I went and got a proper VCDS cable.

    I believe these work on the older models but I really don't know. So if you'd like to take a punt on it and are handy with knowing where to get the appropriate software then it's yours for $20 pick up from Carss Park (near Hurstville) or Campbelltown. Postage would be $5.00 if required.

    The software on the supplied disc is marked as 805.4
