Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD MK6 GTI front brakes, great upgrade for MKV/VI 103 TDI, Sportline, Comfortline etc.

    Hey all,

I have bought a complete set of MK6 GTI brakes and rotors as outlined below. I only need the rears as an upgrade for my MKV GT TDI, as the GT versions have the same GTI fronts already, and mine are only half gone.

Brakes will be in Brisbane and given the weight, would best suit someone local, but can post Australia wide. Asking $250 for the complete front set, calipers, pads, lines, shields etc. The fronts are 312x25mm wide, and you need to find out if these are in fact an upgrade for your particular vehicle, as they are quite common in the sportier/heavier Golf/Jetta vehicles.

Here is the initial add and pics below:

Hi guys i have up for sale a complete set of mk6 gti brakes that is a great upgrade for Jetta and base model golfs. it is a direct bolt-on for all mk6 and mk5 golfs and jetta. This comes with all the OEM parts you need for the upgrade including:
    - brake lines
    - all bolts and nuts
    - front discs
    - front dust shields
    - front calipers
    - OEM pads with brake wear sensors
these brakes have only been on car for 14771km the disc i believe are made by brembo and there are alot of meat left in the pads.

Do you need 17" or larger rims to fit these?

You'd have to ask the Polo guys mate, I have no idea about fitting them beyond the Golf/Passat/Audi 4 platform.

Except these will be 5x112, pretty sure the MKIV golfs were 5x100.

Yep, MkIV Golfs have 5x100 hubs while MkV and VI are 5/112. But what has that to do with this thread?

Since you asked, because the rotors in this kit will be 5x112, and because I can't read roman numerals...
