Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA EOI- 1.8l 8v, ecu and gearbox from '87 mk2 gti

hey guys, just an eoi at the moment as the motors still in the car so i thought id give prospective buyers a chance to see and hear it running, its a 1.8l 8v and 5 speed gear box out of (not yet!) a UK import 1987 mk2 gti, runs like a dream and goes very very hard, the engine has ALOT of compression, this car has had a fair bit of money spent on it in its time (bit worse for ware atm) and i think the motor might have gotten a little attention too but i cant be sure, starts first time, idles well and like i said, pulls hard, im not sure how many k's are on it as im not sure its the original motor... as for the gearbox, its crunches into third slightly, syncros slightly worn id say, ecu also comes with the motor as its been tuned with a "power chip" i removed it and put the factory on in and it ran like a dog so re installed the after market one.... engine is only being removed in favor of something with more valves, more boost and a shedload more horse power engine will be coming out in the next week or so regardless

if youd like to know more specifics as i know iv missed alot please pm me

    cheers,
    tom

The engine code is between #3 and 4 sparkplug IIRC just below the head gasket.
