i currently have 17's however dont want to compromise the ride quality etc if i go to these 19's......

They will fit. Stock ride height you shouldn't experience any issues. If lowered you may have to do some slight modification to eliminate any rub points (I only had one - metal tabs on rear where bumper joins body, that needed to be filed back). May be slightly different on Golf vs. Jetta but both Mk5.
With good tyres, I actually found the ride quality on the 19's to be better than standard.

Hey jet 147, thanks for the info. first VW ive owned and absolutely love it !!!!!!!
Will have to contact this fella regarding the tyres i suppose?
on the pictures they are "kumho" so a bit iffy considering the car i have atm has the bridgestone potenzas and i dont mind them at all, had runflats on my previous car and its rubbish.....
Wheels will fit the Mk5 platform however you will need to get new tyres that suit.
I am happy to have the old tyres moved over to my new wheels as that was what i was planning on anyway.
Current tyres are Kumho KU31's and have excelled in wet and dry grip considering the price you pay for them.
There's a set on Gumtree for 1k with near new tyres.
The ones on gumtree aren't painted though which would set you back another $200 or so.
the upside of not having any tyres means the new owners could pick up the ones they are after and it is suitable for a wider range of vehicles, rather than just tiguan owners.
