wide is good, and they dont look to wide at all imo. Unbalanced? I think they look sweet on a mkv

Maybe in that first pic they do, though I'm sure if you got side on you'd see they weren't protruding past the guards.

This is just me, but by reading the sellers Sig, he has a Mk6 GTI... I would then pose the question, do these fit his Mk6? Which has a very similar offset to the Mk5. If they do, then they would possibly fit the Mk5. If they don't fit his Mk6, then there is a good possibility that they won't fit a Mk5.
Or if you are interested, why not ask the seller if you could possibly test fit these on a Mk5 to see if they fit and have clearance.

hmm i wouldn't care too much if they are genuine or not. I would think about just picking up a pair of these and waiting till another skinnier set comes on the market.
