Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Haha, Jace, you're all class, mate.

But seriously though. I've been salivating over some of the MKI to III build threads on the forums, such as mikinoz's Team Green 16V and feeling a bit left out of all the fun (though, the Golf R does have it's own type of fun!). I'd love nothing more than to grab a MKII off ebay or carsales and do it up. Money isn't an issue, but time and space and knowledge is (though, knowledge is really just a relation of time for me).

But being the VWwc enthusiast I am, I'd love to support the people who have made VWwc what it is over the years, and Preen59 is one of those people. So if there is something that I can pimp to the MK6 guys who rarely look outside of the MK6 subforum, then let me know!
    Gees, Corey.. I'm almost blushing!

I've probably said it a hundred times before, but the biggest thing to remember is that everyone starts off knowing nothing.. I guess the hardest bit is knowing which advice to accept as correct these days..

I can pretty much get you anything you want from any supplier, mate. To be perfectly honest, I can't really give you any specifics.. I'm not 100% up on the Mk5-6 stuff as far as the majority of aftermarket equipment that is available for you.. But what ever there is, I can hook you up with it.

      Hi Preen,

This may be too late, but can you PM me a price on a BSH True Seal Intake for a 2.0T FSI (not TSI) please?
(As seen here: BSH FSI *True Seal* Air Intake System! - BSH Speedshop)

How often do you do these orders which help us save on freight?

      Thanks in advance.

G'day polli. Not too late, mate. I'll get you a price asap.

I am shipping 18x18x12 inch boxes if I can, and I plan to do it as regularly as they fill up or monthly, which ever comes first.

Thanks Preen, forgot to add it's for the K04 turbo with the heat shield (just realised that you need to stipulate this).

                  Why can't we have a 2.2L R
(And I notice BSH do Alcohol Injection kits. Saw a an Evo X recently get some nice results with methanol which was pretty interesting stuff)

I've noticed some of the 9N3 Polo GTI crowd doing methanol/water (I believe a 50/50 mix) on this forum, but I'm a little in the shadows about what the benefits are and how it is being accomplished. It seems to be that in the first few years of a model, you have lots of newbies keeping their cars relatively stock or only using the "tried and true" off-the-shelf products (for this example, I'm a newbie too!). But once a model is a few years old and there are placement parts from written off cars readily available etc, you get people willing to experiment more!

there are heaps of boys doing water/meth in the states on GTIs. BSH do a nice throttle body pipe for it.
Few guys are running it locally too.

Water/methanol injection has a few advantages...

Firstly, it lowers the charge temperature and lowers the combustion temperature.. This reduces the temperature in the combustion chamber and therefore eliminates pinging and detonation.

Lowering the combustion temperature slows the flame speed.. This enables you to run more timing (ecu controlled anyway, but it means the ecu won't pull as much out a hot day etc). It also means the exhaust gas temperature is reduced and this is good news for your turbo.

One of the other advantages is that the methanol will clean the oil sludge and carbon buildup from your inlet and ports.. I think by now most of you have probably seen what a problem that is....

There's a few kits around. None that are a straight "bolt on" that I know of at the moment, though.

You can but it wont last very long

Max i would go is 2067cc up from 1984cc
second last would be 2008cc using 83mm bore pistons. Mahle makes an 83.5mm 2618 piston in motorsport profile that we are going to try out very soon.

                            Good stuff Chris!

Everyone knows by now that we love the Preen.
