Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD New timing belt (1.6/1.8) & tensioner bearing

    Hi,

I have a brand new (old stock - sitting in my storeroom for a while) timing belt and tensioner. I bought for a 1.6 mk1, but the timing belt box says it'll fit a multitude of other 1.6/1.8L (and even some 2L) VAG models. Not sure which other non-1.6L models the tensioner fits (but I'm sure other more informed forum members would know). Tensioner is German, and the belt company is German but it says made in UK.

Asking 15 for the belt and $25 for the tensioner. Pickup in BNE, or I'll ship Oz-wide at cost. Name is Peter and PM is the preferred contact. Thanks for looking.

Price drop! $10 for the belt and $20 for the tensioning bearing. Cheap enough to keep a spare in the garage!
