Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    UPDATED 12/3/2011 - Cleaned up thread, Gearbox and aerial gasket still for sale!

    Hi there all...

    Following the recent sale of my car, its time to get rid of a few parts ive got sitting in the shed...

    MK4 Gti 5 Speed Gearbox
    Standard 5 speed box to suit the MK4 Gti Golfs. Had some minor bearing noise in 2nd gear, rest of the gears were good. Synchros changed ok on all gears. Had to do a clutch replacement, so decided to do the gearbox as well while everything was apart. Would make an ideal candidate for a rebuild for someone who doesnt want any downtime while their old one is getting fixed, or someone wanting a spare (gti boxes are a bit tricky to find from what i remember).

    MK4 Aerial base gasket/seal
    Basically a replacement for the small gasket thing which stops water getting in. Pretty common for these to be cracked or missing on the MK4's. Asking price is what i paid for it.

      Hey mate,

      I'm not sure if you'd know but will those springs fit a Bora 4Mo? Not sure if the rears are the same.

        Pretty sure either the front or back fit but not both, can't actually remember which one though, or if in fact any do...

        Maybe have a look at the online catalogue and compare the part numbers? I'd have a squid for ya but I'm replying to this via my phone so it's a bit difficult to do at the moment...

                    4Motion Bora and R32 share the same suspension hardpoints, and are different to the FWD Mk4 chassis in this regard. Rear springs from a FWD won't fit on a 4Mo or R32 (or vice versa). Believe fronts are the same though.
