edit: downpipe sold, catback still available
I purchased the complete turbo back system from ecs a few months ago for my mkiv gti (late july).
I actually only planned on using the downpipe, and selling the catback, but i gave in and got the whole system installed. (only young once!)
It sounds fairly nice if it wasn't for the drone i get when it's under load, particularly on the highway with a full boot (and passengers to complain!)
The main problem i had though was that the exhaust system was knocking somewhere. It was somewhere on the downpipe that was knocking, and i was told it was the 02 sensor. It knocks sometimes when taking off, and when taking a hard left hand corner. Worked out in the end that billy boat do in fact sell a left hand drive and a right hand drive downpipe. I now have the RHD downpipe, piped up to the stock exhuast.
read this to hear me whinging about it all:
Here was the exhuast system when i got it:

Here it is on the car:

This is the 02 sensor on the downpipe where it most likely knocks:

That would be fairly easy to fix, though it's possible it was hitting on some of the heat shielding here (a not so easy fix i would imagine):
It is also close to the driving column, and that is actually where you feel it when it knocks, i.e. through the steering wheel.

This was the view inside the downpipe which i thought showed a defect (protruding lip), that i thought was responsible for the drone. Billy boat claim it was normal and should not affect the sound. I begged to differ but they ended up giving me a RHD downpipe anyway so...

Currently the exhaust is back in it's box. I can take a photo of it as it is this weekend if you want. I'll probably clean it first as they get grimey pretty quick.
here's a vid of me trying to show what it sounds like the night before i got it removed.
Note the third clip it backfires. That only happens if i do it on purpose (or do a sloppy gear change). It still happens with my new downpipe and stock muffler, but it's just harder to hear. So not exactly sure of the reason for it.
For the catback, i'm looking at $700 o.n.o
edit: Downpipe/cat is sold
any q's let me know.
Cheers
