Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

haha, my pass side mirror fell off yesterday. too funny. Tempting, but waiting for post would be a bummer. Postage price is good though at around $18 or so making these a freaking steal!!

With the rear stress bar, am quite interested but can't seem to get a post quote from AusPost as the length goes over there limits. Would that mean it needs to go courier? (sorry, not great at posting stuff - I like to email but stress bars don't email well).

Scratch my last. Found a quote from Smartsend. Awesome price.

      From 3146 to 2000 Sydney
Estimated Transit time: 2 - 3 business days
      Service: Road
Item No Description Weight (kgs) Dimensions (Centimetres)
      1 Carton 2 125cm x 13cm x 10cm
      2 Carton 1 26cm x 13cm x 19cm

Total Freight Price: AUD$28.58 (Inclusive of GST & Fuel Levy)

Just an example I know, but both parcels packed and sent from Glen Iris to Sydney 2-3 business days for under $30 is crazy good.

oh, how romantic? may i? have this dance?

                  PSS's...

                  Hmm.
                  long story-ish.
got them in - max height - koni adjustable srpings out back:

rode many times better than the Konis i had before. plenty of compliance, and the suspension travel allowed for the damping (bucking onf the firm side) to do its work. the rear was stiff as.

put H&R non adjustables in and were not designed for car:

anyway. i wanted to bring the front down a little. took measurements. and took down about 30mm:

when i was adjusting the OSF, i managed to get the jaw of cheapo spring compressor to put pressure on the bearing and managed to get the thing knocking on any kind of upward shaft movement.
                  disaster.

when it was at max height. i took it for a run to OPH. and my goodness. enough damping for bumps. initial settling in corners, and then holds flat.

worthwhile. i was goin to get cams for my thing, but when i realised that scum bag APR don't do a map for a cam, i abandoned that idea. gains from the VR6 from cam alone are not huge. ~20-30(?)kW. you need full exhaust to get most of it. top end is improved

from what i gather, to get the most from it, you do.

sort of makes sense as well. ECU accounting for change in overlap... unless it does it automatically?
