  • [SYD] 2003 Bora V6 4Motion brakes (calipers and rotors)

    Hi all,

I've got the stock 2003 Bora V6 4Motion brake components (calipers, rotors, I'd not bother with the pads, but they'll be there) to sell if they're of any use to anyone. Not sure of the value either - EOI at this stage!

If no-body wants them, I'll scrap them!
    Nothing to see here...

Does anyone know if 4motion brakes are upgraded or sized from 2lt Bora models? If so how hard would it be to convert?

      Manaz,

The 312mm's are a good upgrade for some car's Especially the GTI's which I think got the 288mm's on the front.

        Hi all,

As qsilverza mentioned, the front rotors are 312mm, and thus bigger than the GTI's stock front rotors (the V6 weighs more than the 1.8T, and the AWD drivetrain adds additional weight too). I suspect that the fronts should be a relatively straightforward swap for any of the MkIV Golfs (or Boras) with 16" or larger wheels - though you'd be crazy to do it to an R32

The rears are different - they're ventilated rotors (the same as the R32, as are the calipers, albeit not blue), and apparently they're not a straight-forward swap onto a FWD vehicle (adapters needed).
        Nothing to see here...

                        adapters sounds expensive...
plus i just realised, if i get a flat and have to go back to the stock 15" i might be in abit of trouble id think...

or you could get a space saver spare... my V6 has one so I think you should be able to find one

I'm not sure to be honest. They're 5x100s, but I'm not sure if there are other differences.

I'm not sure on the expense/complexity of the adapters to make the rears fit - one of the guys who've done an R32 brake upgrade on their GTI may be able to offer advice here.

I'm sticking with my stock space-saver when I have my R32 brakes - if a front tyre fails, I'll have to swap the rear from the same side onto the front, and put the space-saver onto the rear (better that way anyway, considering most of the power and all of the steering are done at the front...)

Did you find out the thickness of the rotors?
