For sale is my Mk3 Cabriolet with a full VR6 conversion - $1500. Located in Mt. Waverley, VIC.
The motor has done 240,000km, but timing chains and clutch have been replaced (which was by the previous owner at around 180,000km), and it is legally registered with the VR6 motor in Victoria. It has been painted blue with a roller in textured chalkboard paint. The car used to belong to 'thestu' on the forums. Some may be familar with his build thread of this car.
The good:
- New TT racing hose kit
- New thermostat and thermostat housing, aluminium coolant pipe
- New oil pump and sump
- Recently reupholstered seats as shown in the photos
- Clutch and timing chains have been replaced
- JOM NJT coilovers (damping and height adjustable)
- Dieselgeek short shifter
- New battery
The bad:
- The heater core has been bypassed.
- Roof is currently patched up with duct tape and should be replaced.
- I'm not sure what you'll think about my roller paint job
- It doesn't have a radio or speakers
- Needs tyres for roadworthy
- Pretty sure it needs a new power steering pump. Steering whines while steering at low speeds despite fluid levels being full.
The car has been a fun one to run around in for the last year or so for me. The only issues I've had have been with the cooling system, which I have fixed with the hose kit and thermostat housing. The car runs and drives well, starts first time every time, doesn't lose oil and it passed a Victorian RWC in April 2015. It would be cool to see someone else take it and enjoy it.
