Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW FOR SALE: MKIII Golf GL 2.0L 1997

Looking to move on to something newer/ more power. Excellent car and will be dearly missed, as some might notice I have changed my mind about selling many times because I really love this car. Goes pretty hard for a 2.0L, taken care of very well, always filled up with either Shell V Power 98 or BP Ultimate 98. Oil and oil filter changed twice in the last 10 months of owning it, only put on 6000kms since then, the latest oil change being last month (March 2014).

Paint is in pretty good nick, other than a couple tiny dents and stone chips. Paint fading on rear drivers side door and also some rust on window sill and foot well. Only selling because im not willing to keep dumping money into it, with no reward. Exhaust, cams, chip and intake were next on the list but realised none would add value to the car.

    Selling as is!

    The Good
    Red 2.0L Golf GL 1997
    - 5 Speed manual
    - Installed JOM Coilovers ($550 to get shipped from germany and installed myself)
    - 126XXX kms so its barely worn in!
    - Power windows
    - 15" MiM 1900's Powder coated black with machined lip. Seen sets go for $850+
    - Interior is in perfect condition
    - Installed Kicker 12" Sub and amp, Sony head unit with AUX and USB and replaced front door speakers with pioneer 6.5"
    - Air conditioning fully functional, heater also works brilliantly
    - Rego till next August
    - Front suspension refresh (Urethane Front and rear position front control arm bushes and top strut mounts)

    Miscellaneous Mods
    - Modified stock airbox for increased induction noise
    - Tinted rear, side and front indicators and JOEY mod headlights
    - New black suede headliner
    - Rear wiper delete
    - Refreshed black trim with Bumper Black spray paint
    - Red GTI stripe added into bumper
    - New VR6 Interior, Front seats good condition, back seats have tears in the bottom section, but back is fine. Will include old seats.(see image)

    The Bad
    - Rust bubbles on the top and bottom of the rear drivers side door, purely cosmetic... ( fixed rust in most places )
    - Will need a new rocker cover gasket soon, leaking a little oil.

Check out my thread if you want more background information on the car or pm me

Looking for $3000 Negotiable or up for swaps for something audi/vw/bmw with money your way/my way depending condition...
