Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    2001 MK4 Golf GTI
    Reflex Silver
    1.8L 20V Turbo Engine
    207000 kms

    $10 500 ono

This Golf GTI is a great car to drive. My reason for selling is that I would like to upgrade to something newer.

I have taken great care to ensure this car has been serviced regularly (every 10,000kms) and kept well. Below is a list of modifications I have made to this car – all modifications are fully reversible so this car can be returned to stock at any time.

    Engine
APR Stage 1 ECU remap – makes 146kw and 325nm of torque a large improvement on the stock 110kw/210nm (cost $1060)
Forge Motorsport carbon fibre cold air intake – I still have the stock air intake.

    Drivetrain
Dieselgeek short shifter – I still have the stock shifter.
New stage 1 lightweight clutch from ECS tuning – installed late Dec 2013

    Wheels, Suspension & Brakes
Brand new AP coilover suspension (have only done about 5000kms) (cost $1200)
    17x7” Lorinser RS2 wheels
26mm H&R front swaybar – extra clearance ensures no rubbing on the driveshafts.
New brake pads and rotors all round were replaced June 2013

    Interior
Rare genuine R32 seats – front and rear
    R32 Steering wheel
    R32 centre console trim
42 Draft Designs led interior lights

    Exterior
    Hella tinted tail lights
Rare votex side skirts and front valance (valance not on in pictures)
Comes with a genuine anniversary rear valance
    Euro number plates
    Rear wiper delete
    Stubby antenna

Wondering about a 05 model Renault Megane Sport RS 225 or an 80's BMW E30...two totally different cars! Not sure yet all depends on the sale of the mk4

my one, that i just picked up this past week, is, well, let's put it this way...

it is the most woeful car that i have ever, ever driven in peak hour traffic. even my polo, which had mounts/ bushes/ was so vibratey that a can of coke would spin around in the cup holder at idle, was still a nicer car to drive in heavy traffic.

it only took one day of driving it to/ from work (friday), and i've already decided that i'll just keep taking the tram to work.
