Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT FS: 2004 VW Bora TDI

    Hi guys,

Some of you might remember this car from last year when I put it up on the forum for sale. I lost motivation to sell it after a buyer couldn't come up with the cash, and so I thought I'd keep it as a weekend driver. Sadly though the car is still gathering dust throughout the week and the one day it gets driven does not really warrant holding onto it.

This Bora was originally imported and used by VW Australia as one of 2 trial models by management before they launched the TDI motors locally. As it was not ADR compliant, it was then shipped over to NZ where I purchased it at 20,000kms from a VW dealership. It ended up back on these shores when I brought it over as a personal import in 2010.

This is the top-spec TDI Bora which was never available in Australia. Features include:

-1.9 TDI PD 150 (ARL) motor with MTM remap to 131kw/360Nm
-Partial black leather with alcantara trim
    -Reflex metallic silver colour
    -Power sunroof
    -Heated seats and mirrors
    -Climate control A/C
    -Front and side airbags
    -6 speed manual
    -Full 35% window tint
-18" Oettinger RE rims with 225/45/18 Conti SportContact 3 tyres (2 new) - factory Siata rims included
    -H&R 50mm lowering springs
    -124,000kms

Everything works great in this car and has been regularly serviced and fastidiously cleaned and maintained. Has just had a major service last week.

This car is incredibly fun to drive with an enormous wad of torque coming on tap from 1,800rpm. This is why I've owned it for so long! It's a very quick car and handles great with the H&R set-up. Gets great fuel economy too at around 6.0L/100kms around town. First to drive will definitely buy.

    Asking $11,900 or best offer

Is it on insurers lists? Or, does it need to be insured through an import insurer (ala Just Cars) ?
