SOLD
I bought this Bora from a forum member towards the end of last year, with the intention of using it as part of my Polo 4Motion conversion project. In the end I decided not to go down that path and so the Bora is now up for sale.
It's a 2001 model, blue with black leather. 142,000kms travelled. 2.8l VR6 engine, 4Motion with 6 speed manual.
The Bora is mostly standard - it has 17" wheels and had been fitted with K&R Springs and Koni Yellow shocks by a previous owner so it sits slightly lower than normal but still 100% road legal - see the pics. I have since swapped back to OEM springs to return to a normal ride height, with the K&R springs included in the sale. The standard stereo has been upgraded to a more modern CD / tuner unit and that's about it.
Mechanically the car is in pretty good condition. It has a full regular service history including the last service performed in September 2013. I've just replaced most of the bushes, front control arms and a few other suspension and steering pieces to get the car roadworthy approved, so there's very little for the next owner to do.
Cosmetically the car could do with a little refresh work, hence the reduced price. There are patches on the roof where the clear coat has worn through, and a few dents and stone chips as you'd expect from a 13 year old car. I've given it a full polish and the paintwork for the most part looks pretty good.
The interior is in reasonable condition - the leather is intact though a little worn however it came up nicely with some leather cleaner and conditioner. More photos can be provided of specific areas of interest if required.
The only two known issues are an intermittent fault with the analogue gauges - they are currently working correctly but every now and then they will stop working for a day or so. I've bought a ScanGauge that's installed in front of the instrument cluster to give digital readouts of speedo, tacho and water temperature, and I've ordered a new cluster which will be swapped in shortly and should resolve the issue for good.
The AC also doesn't blow freezing cold - VCDS indicates a fault with the temperature mixer motor so I suspect the chilled air is not being correctly vented through the dash. There are no reported fault codes in terms of the compressor or condenser units so I assume those are working correctly.
The car has ACT rego until May 2014.
I'm looking for $5500 for the car which is a reflection on what I bought it for and my expenses in fixing minor faults and getting the car roadworthied and registered, but that said I'm open to offers as I'm keen to move this on to fund my next track car purchase.
The car is currently in Fyshwick, ACT and can be inspected at any time by arrangement. Shipping can be arranged interstate at the buyer's expense after payment in full has cleared, although I would recommend you come and look at the car first and enjoy the drive home for yourself.
