Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Mk 3 Golf Diesel

    Hi All,

Time has come to move on, I'm looking at upgrading to a Mk6 is the very near future, but need to sell my mk 3 first.

    it's a 97 1.9TDI, (aussie delievered model)
    5 speed manual,
    power windows, sunroof.
    217xxxkms
Replaced injector pump at 198,xxxkms, along with timing belt and major service.
New engine mounts (all round) and control arm bushes in the last few thousand kms.

    mods:
    Converted to 5x100
as is, comes with autostrada modenas (complete with caps and pins) in good nick, 5x100 16x8/9 with spacers, longer bolts etc, with practically brand new tyres.
lowered with H&R Ultra Ultra Low coilovers. cost over $1800 to land. These go far lower than you'll ever need, and ride great.

    plated sump.

    a few bad points:
Needs strut mounts, general tidying up. (drivers door lock needs to be replaced, gearshift gaitor needs to be replaced)
intermittent ECU fault. New ECU seems to have fixed this.
    Needs AC new/reco compressor

    Asking $4,500, AS IS.

    Hoping for a quick sale.
Will consider selling the car less parts (wheels, suspension, front end)

It really is a great car, have gotten heaps of compliments and looks with it, and had a heap of fun with it over the last couple years. It will be missed. Unfortunately I don't have room for four cars.

Vento front end is being sold separately, will come with standard golf bonnet with mk 4 style headlights (see lower photos)

Yea, I believe there was about 200 brought in. it's a proper TDI (not IDI like some imports are) has an O2A gearbox, full GL spec trim (hence the power windows and colour coded side strips)

                        bumping this back up.

would be willing to part wheels, suspension and vento front end, sell that car as "standard" for about $2500.

Would also considering parting the car if there was enough interest in the big items; ie. engine, gearbox, 5-stud swap etc.

would be a shame to see this parted - someone grab a great car! take it from a previous mk3 diesel owner!

bumping this up. very keen to move the car and or some of the parts on.

want to free up some $$ for other projects (and have the space for a new car)
