In light of the yellow mk1 coming up for sale
I need to part with my current project
1978 2 door Mk1 golf gls
Engine/gearbox:
1.9L 8v on solex carbs
5 speed close ratio ACD coded gearbox
Missing linkz short shift kit
Interior:
Brown everything
spares
Comes with new black carpet (not installed)
Excelent condition mk2 jetta dash (no cluster due to being stuffed around by Knupflog)
no parcel shelf
no radio
heater core to be installed
fan needs to be wired up
Exterior:
Pretty rough
green with black patches of quit rust all round
chrome bumpers coated in matte black plastidip 8/10 condition could do with new endcaps but very straight
smoked indicators
single headlight grille
small lip
Rear has been updated to 80's spec with the Larger tail lights (didnt like it at first but it grew on me)
spares:
small plastic bumpers
quad headlight grille
Suspension:
gti sway bars front and rear
jom height adjustable coilovers
Brakes:
lead to believe they are Gti calipers
with vented disks
Problems:
Slight misfire when cold and idling
probably just the dizzy as its pretty worn out
gearbox is hard to shift and can be troublesome at times (takes getting used to)
Front gearbox mount/cradle is not attached (have part ready to put in )

All in all this car has been relatively problem free and will suit a racecar restoration or a proper back to mint condition restoration. My plan was to slowly bring it to that standard with a 16v twin webber conversion but that wouldn't be happening for a while with very strict parents and limited workspace so I'm after something more complete which can serve me well while I grow up a little and complete my studies.
