For sale is my mk1 Golf. Its a '77 LS model. Features are:
1.8 RV engine with G-grind cam, DHLA side-draft 40mm dellorto carburettor - makes a healthy dyno proven 95hp at the wheels. (In fact, probably more since it not has electronic ignition, whereas it was on points for the dyno!). Fitted with a good 210mm clutch and a working but otherwise unknown 4 speed gearbox.
Car has neat re-covered dash in black vinyl, all electrics working. Neat black carpet from a later model mk1 (an 83 south african model).
Car is unregistered.
Floor pan is not rusty. Windscreen sills rust fixed a while ago, along with a pillar holes.
Whole car needs a respray. I have many straight panels. I have fitted the 4 straightest doors to the car already. Also have less rusty hatch (not fitted) and straighter front fenders (not fitted).
Interested buyers will be looking for a project car that has a solid base, and a nice powerplant for burning around the streets or the track.
I will include for interested purchasers the following parts:
> Good 5 speed gearbox and mount
> late front brake setup
> good front grill
> spare just about anything mk1 you need (lights, bumpers, blah blah blah).
> Nice black vinyl doorcards
I have LOTS of mk1 parts that I am willing to part with for FREE to anyone who takes this car off my hands. I will help you take it in any way I can.
Car starts and runs just fine.
Believe it or not, price is also negotiable.
Someone - come and take this mk1 from me and give it a new life. I'm in a position where I need to start work renovating my house and this car is literally in the way. I dont want to leave it in the rain, and I dont want to send it to the scrap heap.
For someone with a penchant for body work, this car is an easy project. I just don't have the time, or the motivation.

***EDIT*** pics of the car as it sits with a couple of years of dirt:
