SOLD
For sale:
One 1998 Mark IV Golf GL in dark green, 125,000 kms on the clock.
1.6L engine.
$800 drive it away
I'm selling because we no longer need two cars, and we don't want the expense of looking after two of them.
The good:
Economical to run
Comfy
Cheap
Relatively low kilometers for the age
Gearbox and engine doing well
Rego 'til June
New windscreen
Timing belt and water pump replaced 10,000 kms ago
The bad:
Needs a fair bit of work doing to get it humming again:
- Front wheel bearings knackered and noisy
- Dampers ought to be replaced - pretty bouncy
- Needs new front discs and pads
- Needs new accessories belt
Trim is pretty worn
Minor paint damage around driver's side door - no rust though
Aircon only just stopped working
There's a lot to fix on the car, hence the low asking price. Perfect if you're handy on the tools and can fix a few things yourself, or if you don't mind taking this to a good mechanic like Jimmy Mac at Alba European. He's taken a look at the car, and he can see about $2500 worth of work.
