I hate wading through a whole for sale post and a pile of pictures searching for the price so here it is right at the top.
I want $5000 for my Bora 4motion
This has to be the cheapest running, registered Bora 4motion in the country. There is work needed but most of that work is low parts cost but high labour cost so ideally suited to someone with mechanical skills. I just don’t have the time to do this car justice anymore, I do 700+ kms a week for my job and can’t afford to take my car off the road for weeks at a time while I work on it (I also don’t have a garage to do the work in).
At this price I’m not very negotiable. I wish I didn’t have to sell this car but I my wife is not a fan, I think she spells the word “car” as d-i-v-o-r-c-e.
I have spent more than $7000 on the Bora in the last 18 months, including rebuilt rear diff (twice, the first guy twisted a bearing when he put it back together so I chose to forgo the warranty and get someone else to do it the second time), all suspension bushes replaced, new engine/gearbox mounts, inner and outer CV boots replaced. Just before I bought the car in June last year it had a new battery, clutch and flywheel and some work done on the aircon (not sure exactly what was done to the aircon but I think it was fixing something that was broken up under the dash)
Since I have owned it the oil has been changed every 5000kms and it has been serviced by Canberra VW Centre since I moved to the ACT. Had gearbox fluid changed about 5000kms ago and will have rear diff and Haldex fluid changed on the 12th of November as part of the follow up check by the diff guy (this will be the 3rd change of Haldex fluid in the last 20,000kms).
Car has 186,200kms and a comprehensive service history. Some of the pictures show the car with NSW plates but It is currently registered in the ACT until March 2013 and passed a full ACT government rego inspection (equivalent to a NSW Blue Slip) in March 2012. It had a Vag-Com scan in March this year and had no fault codes.

Original 16x6.5 wheels are on the car, they have good tyres with plenty of tread left. Two of the wheels have gutter rash

Car is mechanically stock with only slight cosmetic mods, the grille has been painted matte black (white cars with white grilles look so 90s in the worst way) and headlights have been swapped for ones with “joey modded” matte black trim (still OEM headlights with electric height adjustment and built in fogs).
The bad stuff:
- Engine has timing chain noise and lifter tick that quietens down when the engine is warm but is still there faintly most of the time. I took it to the guys at Canberra VW centre about 5000kms ago thinking I should bite the bullet and get the timing chain replaced but they said it's not that bad and doesn't need to be changed yet.
- There is an intermittent oil leak that I have not been able to track down, it usually only leaks on a warm day when the engine hasn't been started, dropped hardly any all winter but now the weather is warming up it will leak a little pool of oil by about 10am if I don't start the engine and warm it up. Once the engine is warm there is no leak.
- Small tear on drivers seat bolster, I had it covered up with a patch from MastaPlasta but as it's a high wear area the patch only lasts 6 months or so before it comes off.

Oettinger wheels do not come with the car, it has stock wheels on.
Also the smoked tail lights in these pic have been removed and do not come with the car, it now has the original Hella tail lights

If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.
