LOL swaping an 8v for an 8v is not an engine conversion.........

Nice to see a GTI, hopefully it goes to a good home.

i did some research and it says something about a power increase needs a engineer cert?
we got some crap new laws or something recently in syd?
so im guessing the seat 8v is a power increase?

8v don't have any power so there is no power increase. You would get a bigger increase in power if you put an exhaust on a 1.6. From memory the GTI K-jet 8valve made 110hp....the Seat 2L makes 113.....

This is how the convo goes if by some miracle someone has a problem with it having a different 8v in it:
You: "The original motor spun a bearing so I replaced the bottom end with another mk1 bottom end....."
Gaylord: "Why is the rocker cover different?"
You: "Don't be a Gaylord, i change the rocker cover because it looks better"

Most people on this forum wouldn't be able to tell the difference, let alone someone at the RTA.

As dom stated change the rocker cover from seat to vw.

Get a mecanic to check engine out and see the engine numbers to verify it. chassis code should be traceable. 2 pac paint is a 3k + plus job alone, car unregistered is worth 2k ++easy as it is a GTI. plus all the work carried out. So why did he have no receipts for the work to date??? That doen't make sense. But hey take someone with you that knows the cars.

i live in syd so i dont really know if my mechanic would want to treck it to melbs to see a car! ha
                cheers but mate!
just a lil worried it will cost me heap to get on the road!

The vehicle is unregistered so you should just need a hand written/printed receipt for said vehicle, detailing chassis no. and get the seller to leave the engine number blank. They should state that there are no monies owing, and probably best to grab the sellers address details. Pretty sure that is all you'll need to establish ownership, then away you go.

                                Bumping this up.

Alot of interest, but no solid buyers.

This is a genuine mk 1 GTI, with a respray in the original colour and a heap of new parts in it! 5,000 bucks is a steal.

For those that was interested, this car has been previous registered with the 2E engine.
