Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW 1994 MK3 Golf VR6 For Repair/Spares

Here is a 1994 VR6 Golf I bought unbeknownst that the engine was not working properly. The odometer reads 230000 kilometres or thereabouts.

It will either need an engine replacement or reconditioning. The engine turns over and runs, the car can drive but struggles to idle smoothly and is at a loss for power.

This is due to some sort of issue in one of the cylinders such as a dropped valve or broken ring causing a misfire and hence the symptoms described. The radiator fans also don't seem to work properly. I don't have the time nor expertise to fix up the car so it would suit someone for either parts or repair.

The interior is fairly clean, seats are in good condition as well as the carpet and have been steam cleaned since I bought the car. The paint is decent on some areas of the car (back half), but poor on the front half of the car. Most of the panels bar the passenger guard and bonnet are straight. Upon acqusition of the car I also changed the serpentine belt, the oil filter and oil as well as the fuel filter and flushed the fuel tank and coolant system.

    Pictures:

Here is the front seats after a good clean:

Looking for $800 for the car. Give us a ring on 0410 843 801 or send a PM.

        Thanks guys,

The car has about 230,000 odd kilometres on it.

The exact problem with the engine is either a dropped valve or broken ring in cylinder number one causing a misfire and hence the symptoms displayed.

I'll add a little more information in the description to help out.
