The shell is a 1978 but not in the best shape. Minimal rust (just one little patch behind the rear left wheel arch) but there are some dents in the front quarter panels and bonnet. The rest of it is a bit mismatched.
I'm not sure who built the motor since I pulled it out of the other shell I'm building up, but it's a 1.9L block, 8V head and runs well. The guys at Camden GTi knew about the motor, though! Plenty of torque and response. The gearbox is an ACD close ratio five-speed from a Mk2 GTI.
Inside it's in fairly good nick apart from the dash which is badly cracked. Seats are all good. It needs attention to get the brake lights and reverse lights working. Currently the heater box is in the boot with the necessary attachments to hook it up, but you'll need to get a couple of hoses to plumb it into the engine bay. Bought this from my mate HuH, unfortunately I've resigned from my job so restoring this car is out of the question.
The car is registered until October. Has basically brand new tyres.
Overall it is not the neatest Mk1, quite rough around the edges, but the motor is strong and with the gearbox problem sorted it would make a good runabout. Definitely plenty of fun there to be had.
