Howdy all,
It has come time to sell my beloved VW. There has been a few frustrations involved with this car, however I have loved every minute in one way or another being behind the wheel of this car. I genuinely will miss this vehicle, however I need to start looking ahead at buying a house (early next year) and would like to achieve that with more flexibility.
I will endeavor to be as honest about the car and provide as much information as possible. Please take the time to read the ad carefully and PM with any questions or reply in the thread. I will not post my mobile number initially, as I am working on night shifts so I at least wont get them or will be asleep during most calls.
I understand I am in Newcastle and not most accessible for most people. I flew to QLD to get the car and drive it back with 119, XXX kms in October 2010
The important points to note:
- 2004 Mk4 R32
- DBP
- # 189 / 200
- 153 XXX kms
- Rego in NSW till late October 2012
- Full Milltek Stainless Steel non-res exhaust (I honestly love this exhaust, I don't know how anyone buys anything else, it's perfect).
- VF Engineering CAI
- APR tune (car had an APR catback before I bought it which the tune suits, could benefit from a retune to suit the Milltek)
- VF Engineering engine mounts
- SPEC Stage 2+ Clutch and SMFW (single mass flywheel)
- Recently replaced coilpacks x 6
- Haldex Upgrade
- H&R Springs
- H&R wheel spacers (10mm with extended wheel bolts (F) and 20mm bolt on spacer (R) )
- Near new rear taillights
- New near front lower grilles
- EBC Redstuff Brake Pads
- Poly bushed (previous owner, not sure what brand)
- Front lower strut brace (previous owner, not sure what brand)
- I have changed the oil and filter twice in the last 10,000 kms
- OEM Ipod control
Negatives:
- Clutch
- Requires new shocks as a result of the H&R springs
- Front passenger side guard damage
- Currently financed
Spares included:
- second set of Aristo's (currently painted grey, some minor damage, one wheel has been repaired)
- haldex service kit
- standard springs
- special tools (like oil filter removal tool, coilpack removal tool etc)
- 2 x sets of Hawk Brake Pads
Details on the negatives:
CLUTCH - this clutch and flywheel would be absolutely perfect as a weekend/hillclimb/track type application. I absolutely love the way it has transformed the dynamic of the power delivery in this car. The way to get the smoothest operation from it, is to use a heel & toe action when going down the gears. When going up it really does like you to be quick and get it into the next gear. What the nature of this clutch details is that around town, you can find yourself with the car "locked" in gear (usually first or reverse). If you DON'T depress the clutch pedal fully, it can be avoided. There is also some reasonable flywheel chatter. This package is listed on ECS tuning's website as a Stage 2+ and cost around ~1800 AUD landed + installation. Currently has Motul gearbox oil, I would go back to Redline Superlight Shockproof in a heartbeat though. I personally don't like the aforementioned side affects, and am considering replacing the clutch with a SACHS unit. Am happy to negotiate me completing this task or supplying parts. I would HIGHLY recommend booking it in to Exoticars @ Parramatta as their work is second to none.
SHOCKS/MOUNTS - this is pretty self explanatory, whther you go for coilovers or for koni shocks is up to you. Highly recommended to change strut mounts and bearings while you are at it (cheap and peace of mind, will cure noise when turning).
PANEL DAMAGE - the car has been run in to and damaged my guard and front bar. I believe it looks a lot worse than it really is. Have not had the time to get a "quote" but certainly doesn't look like a tough ask to repair.
FINANCE - The loan I have is tied to the car, the specifics of this can be discussed in due course/when appropriate.
I will update more about spares etc and get photos of the damage (when requested). It's currently raining and I haven't got photos of everything necessary. Will endeavour to get that done tomorrow.
I hope that I have explained everything with this car, I feel it deserves a decent advertisement as it is quite a special (to me) vehicle.
Price: If I supplied a clutch for fitting and got body work repaired, I would list the car at $24,000.
If there is variance on that, obviously happy to negotiate a price.
Here are some photos how it currently sits for now though:
