VIC For Sale: 1976 MK 1 Golf 4 door

Hi All

Up for sale is my 1976 Mk 1 Golf 4 door. It has no rego or roadworthy.

This car has been a great little car for me over the past 2 years. Its has been driven daily all that time.

I converted the car from an auto to a manual before it was registered 2 years ago. The car is also lowered with a set of coilovers from Ebay about 12 months ago. It has also had a reco head about 6 months ago. The car has been well maintained in the 2 yrs I have driven it.


It is a Mk 1 so there is some rust. There was a small amount of rust in the passenger side a pillar. This was repaired when I put the car on the road. It just needs a top coat of paint. There was a new windscreen put in for the roadworthy 2 years ago. when the screen was out it was found to have no rust under the rubber of the windscreen.

There is some small surface rust in the back under the bumper. There is also a small amount in the passenger side floor. Some of this may need to be fixed for a roadworthy. Not sure though.

It has good roadworthy tyres but will need engine mounts and front brake hoses to pass a roadworthy.

Overall this is a good solid Mk 1 that has never let me down. I am only selling this car due to limited space, time and money. If I had the space, time and money then I would keep the car.

I am looking for about $1000 but I am open to offers.

Good luck with the sale. unrelated, but I actually spotted your car in Melbourne a few weeks back when I came down for a funeral. I was staying in Wantirna. I never see Mk1s on the road up here in QLD.

I actually spotted it just before new years traveling out to wanting to pick up my falls ticket - must admit, I stopped a tool a photo. Couldn't resist!
