Mk2's are nowhere near as rare!!! They were officially sold in Aus where as the mk1's weren't which means all of the ones here are imports which is why the price is so high

You'd only have to wait a month for a decent MK2 to appear.

A bit pricey but they are out there.

If you want something super rare how about a Corrado G60? i have one and it's really nice, might be persuaded to sell if the price is right. Last i heard there was about 4 in Australia and all of them were imports. if you want to stand out on the VW scene then this is the car for you.

unless of course you're talking about a MkII GTI 16V...now they are almost as rare as MkI GTIs.

If your saying that there are 4 mk1 gti's in Australia, then mk2 16v's are no where near as rare. There's about 15 that I've heard of. But a mk2 g60, I think there's only 1 or 2

you can always get a aussie mk2 and drop a 16v in... unless your willing to wait untill one pops up.
there was a gold(??) South African mk2 16v in sydney for sale a month ago, for like 5K
