Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW FS - Mk3 VR6 modified

Hey guys, just going to put this up here and see how it goes and if there is any interest out there.

As most of you will know i bought this off mickey who did most of the work to it.

After i bought it i was swamped with problems with this car, since i bought the car for 11k i have spent at least 5-6k just fixing **** that wasnt working on the car, i was quite frustrated that i paid so much and was told that there werent any problems with the car and now having finally got it all running right im over it and i just want to buy a newer vehicle.

There was a big water leak in the engine bay which i got fixed by replacing a component with a brand new one aswell as getting a service, slotted rotors on the rear and new pads all round New wheel bearings all round. 2 services after that had all the fluids changed. The A/C was broken so i had that fixed and re-gassed, coilovers came out last week for a full service and clean put back in and had a wheel alignment. Along with countless other bits and peices.

The shrick was all black when i bought the car and since then i have taken it out had it sandblasted and cleaned out inside and out along with the intake pipes, the shrick was then undercoated and then letters painted then the colour was put onto the rest of it and it came up really nice, colour scheme (+5whp).

Another bad thing is there is a run in the paintwork on the rear passenger quarter panel its hard to see in a photo or in real life but in the right light you can notice it slightly and its quite frustrating.

Cluster shows 155,000 kms but the Engine has 70,000kms on that so its currently at 225,000kms and still runs like a dream. It has been serviced regularly and cleaned 2-3 times a fortnight, Before i got it it was cleaned abit more than that as mickey was a detailer and kept it in really nice shape.

    The good
    - Fresh front bar and rear bar respray, front bar is also shaved with no foglights
    - Slotted rotors all round
    - Shrick intake manifold
    - Drift CAI
    - Short shift kit purchased off tim (dubaddiction)
    - Fk konigsport coilovers with a fresh service and clean
    - H & R sway bars front and back
    - Recaro Bucket seats
    - Floor mats to match the black recaros with red trim and stitching
    - 2.5" magnaflow catback exhaust
    - Silicone hosing throughout engine bay
    - Shaved boot and wiper delete
    - Stubby antenna
    - Fusion head unit with ipod connectivity behind the face, face folds down and ipod plugs in behind it face folds up and ipod is controlled via the headunit.
    - DDI dials , tasteful mod
    - Crystal clear side indicators
    - The whole driveline was replaced before i bought the car and since i bought it i replaced the driveshafts which was 6 months ago.
    - New wheel bearings all round 4 months ago
    - New e-code headlights with new 8000k HID kit with blue parkers and blue light highbeams
    - Serviced every 5000kms
    - The whole car is running really well now that ive fixed up all the problems and replaced quite a few parts.
    - The whole car has been Resprayed in Mazda crystal white pearl

    The Bad
    - The run in the paintwork on the rear quarter panel.
    - When the car was resprayed it was a closed door respray so under the bonet is still the original alpine white colour aswell as inside the car and the fuel flap.
    - The heater core is broken and has been by passed but i never replaced it as i was happy to run it without the heater, but i do have a heater core and or the whole internal dash assembly to swap straight out with the working heater core inside.
    - The car doesnt have the 4 speakers in the doors its just running 2 6x9's in the parcel shelf.
    - Also the little plastic casing around the steering column directly between the steering wheel and the cluster is cracked so im trying to get a hold of a new one.

Now im sure i have missed a few things but i can always edit that in later so here it is.

The car will not be sold with these wheels but instead just 15" stock wheels off a mk4 which are about to get refurbed and powder coated then some new tyres.

Looking for any offers around 11-12k i am negotiable but only to an extent.

Car will be sold with the stock taillights unless the hella blue magics dont sell.

so, turbo this mate. we all agree that every car, even new ones off the lot, have issues. It was a long-held dream of mine to put a snail on my 24v vr6, but money (bought a house) beat me to it. Then I wanted to charge it, and money beat me again. If you're able to, I say turbo yours and love it for decades, not years.

mate regardless of issues. Buying another car will bring a new set of issues again. I'd just cut your losses and enjoy this since you've spent the cash on it It all even's out in the end!
