Turned out to be a VR6 trans, so it wouldn't fit either, without doing a VR6 engine conversion at the same time. The B4 VR6 Passat I have as a donor car is a manual. It has the majority of parts to do a manual conversion, shifter, pedal cluster, clutch master and slave. The donor car is available to.

As much as i'd like to get this back on the road, the reality of too much going on and not enough time to do this means it has to go.

@ seeny, that trans looks identical, although I don't know enough about the auto trans to know if it is compatible or not, Matt may have a better idea, the original trans is a 096 APE code. From google searches, trans lists for the 096 show them fitted to Golf/ Jetta up to '96, it looks like it would fit.
@ volksaudi, the B4 ( Black sedan ) I have came from a wrecking yard and had had a few bits pulled from the engine and interior some lights ect. before I got it, don't know what the engine/ g-box condition is other than turning the motor on the starter , no strange sounds. It is for sale as well as a whole or in parts.

i just blew my box in my b3 passat, same motor and box as your one, ive replaced it with an EARLY (93-94 ONLY!!!) mk3 golf auto, all the electrical plugs are the same, gear ratio's are different, not sure if their taller or shorter ratio's yet, but it works.......

Yeah pretty damn sure, they where all the same back then when its coming to the ecu's. As post above, the plus will fit, but it might shift slightly different. Should not be too concerning though.

                  Hey Dom and VolksAudi,

that is very interesting! Do you know of any early (93-94) Mk3 Golf trans, in verifiable, good condition?

If I can find a suitable trans, I'd be happy to get it back on the road.

                  cheers,

                  Steve.
