Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Mk1 Golf GLS 77'' 3 Door

Ive come to the decision to sell my beloved project in which i have brought back to life from the verge of being scrapped. I bought this car over 2 years ago with big plans however the progression of my career has left me little time for it these days and i also need a new car. So to keep with my love of Volkswagen i plan to buy a Passat CC, so i need to get as much as i can for my Golf!

    About the car:

    Its a White GLS 77' 3 Door
1.8L 8v engine with Dellortto sidedraft, and no oil leaks or coolant leaks
Unknown genuine amount of kms however i believe it was about 300,000km on the old odometer
Had a respray about a year and a half ago and the paint is still perfect
Brand new windscreen put in and all the window seals (including scraper seals) are brand new including the 1/4 vent which is now fixed.
All wheels are unscratched and the tyres have near perfect tread

    The interior:

Scirocco Seats (drivers has height adjustment)
Door-cards are Uncut and in perfect condition
    Uncracked Mk1 Dashboard
Woodgrain steering wheel and gear shifter look great
    Excellent quality sound system

    The cons:
-Engine needs a tune, but not running terribly just not very classy
-Hand brake cable needs replacing as i snapped it being an idiot.

    The Pros:
Near perfect chrome bumpers with endcaps
Near perfect grill with dual headlamps
    New side mirrors

    It comes with an array of parts which i planned to put on but never had time such as;
    - Chrome side strips
    - GT Stripes
    - Reconditioned Servo and Brand new Master cylinder
    - Extra Seals for back windows
    - Gauges, Doorcards, switches and much more

I am asking for $3500 for the lot, and am negotiable.
Depending on how far you are something can be worked out for delivery.
The link below shows the restoration process and how much work went into it

I will get more updated pictures up soon, once i find time to take them

                      Cheers. Just wanted to check.

I'll run it past the gf. She has a major thing for Mk1 golfs and is in the market. Could be a great car for her.

Agree that not sure what RTA will say about the timber floor, if some one hit you at the back the floor can cut you into half. Other than that, I WANT it !!
