Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just found out that the current Viezu V-Switch (ChippedUk ST3) tune on the GT cannot be used with the 77TSI Polo and according to Viezu UK it would be an ECU out and on the work bench remapping procedure. I don't like that idea so the GT will be sold with the tune and the hand held V-Switch unit. I'm firm on this price as I'm confident you will not find a better example of this model anywhere.

    BUMP $32,500 with tune.

Hey guys, I am close to ordering the new Polo but need to sell the GT first so I'm pricing it to sell quickly, I'm prepared to let it go for $30,500 including tune. I don't believe you will find a better example anywhere. I'd appreciate genuine enquiries only please no time wasters Thanks

Sold it through Carsales minus the tune, I might be advertising the Viezu V - Switch unit in the near future as from what I can find out it won't work with 77TSI Polo. Still waiting on confirmation from the UK.

I think enough people here have read the Piezo actuated PD injector failure threads to be wary of this engine
Direct your query to Simon White - he's the tech hq manager at Viezu. But I'm pretty sure you'll have to sell it if you are firm on the 77 TSi Polo

I was more concerned about the long term effects of the DPF system and the longevity of the engine. In one of the first posts i ever made on here I spoke of buying the diesel to keep for the long haul but after seeing pics of what the DPF is doing to the internals of the engine I figure it's a better option to make a move away now. It's a damn shame as I really love the GT

Yeah it is indeed sad to see the GT crew slowly moving away, but I understand, heck even I will ditch the GT one day, just not yet, I'm liking where I am at mod wise, and it's nice to be looking down the tailend of a car loan with no balloon.

A provent, an EGR gasket and a bit of trickery, and the inlet problem is largely solved, and with DPF's now sub $1k from Europe, there's only the injector problem to solve, and I am determined to get into that this year too.

Good luck with the new toy mate, always a thrill to get a new car, the old is quickly forgotten in reality!

                    Cheers Greg,

Yeah it will be sad and I'll really miss the grunt but I'm no grease monkey and I bought the diesel with the intent of leaving the spanners in the toolbox and just enjoying the drive. I'm still not 100% sure if it will even be another VW that replaces it yet. I have to check with my local dealer again but according to a dealer in Wollongong there's a wait until at least Feb 2012 on Polo 77TSI I think that's a bit of a joke really and VW are going to lose a lot of sales with waiting times like this

Yeah, there's plenty of choice, I wouldn't wait. It's not a hand built Aston or anything.

That's good to hear. Got anymore info on that? I was still under the belief that they were still $4k

There are reco DPF's coming out of the UK for about $800AU, it's on the DFP thread I think, found them on ebay.uk. You'd be up for a bit for post, but not if they cut off the long mid pipe you can just reuse from your current DPF. Length is the killer with postage, but a cut down DPF should touch down sub $1100 at those prices.

Having hacked up a DPF now, you can bet carformance is on the hunt for the "refill" DPF cartridge : )
