  • VIC Melbourne - Mk2 VW Golf Gti 1990 - 5Dr, White, Roofracks etc.

    Hi guys,
Mentioned the sale of this golf in the threads previously.
Here's the full description of the golf, now for sale.

    It's a 1990 Mk2 GTI, 8v 1.8. White 5 door. It is Vic reg'd until August 2011.

The car is going great and feels as robust as ever. I've driven it to Sth Coast NSW three times and always feel totally safe. I've never been let down by it.
No weird knocks, bumps. Gears solid, Clutch cable only a year old all good.

Purchased 2nd hand from a chap who worked for Qantas, who brought it up from Canberra. I bought it at around 193,000. I worked on a Mk1 Golf, from dead to gutsy goer, and was taught by a great guy who had a Mk2 GTI so I've always felt comfortable working on this car. These golfs are great to work on.

    Current Status
    221,000km's.
    White
    Clutch cable replaced 11,000k's ago.
    New spark plugs 7,000kms ago.
New Fuel pump (external) 7,000kms ago.
    Seats in overall good condition.
    Child Safety Bar.
Front tyres are still good about 10 months old, have been checked this week for RWC, will pass.
    CD player ext jack.
    Roof racks
Black ATS Porsche-esque mags, great condition

    Recently replaced/repaired

Replaced Oil filter & Oil Change (January 2011 / 1000kms)
New RHS fog light on order from Latvia (installed by end March)
New rear window scrapers - installed and water tight.
Replaced rear RHS passenger door handle (old one was stiff, all mech's now greased up)
Replaced rear window scrapers - installed
    Replaced brake fluid (11/04/11)
    Replaced Front brake pads (11/04/11)
    Replaced wiper blades
New heater matrix professionally installed - Has a great new heater!
    2 New Front suspension shocks.

These items not required for RWC
Inspect rear wiper motion (not sure if contact is loose, was working, since stopped)
Check status of A/C. Sold to me as needing a regass - I haven't inspected further.
Minor other items - small tear in front drivers seat, front speakers dead (rear ones still loud)

That's all - everything else repaired.

    Reason for selling:
With regret I'm going to have to sell my golf. it's just not big enough (i cycle a lot). I'm saving for a hilux, dual cab ideally.
I'm in Carlton North. Will consider driving the car to NSW should a sale be confirmed

Price: Edit taken out price while advertised on carsales. Sorry, I know it's bad form.

    Photos (more later):

Further info and interior shots on Carsales.
    Price negotiable too

No love at that price? Too high? Anyone keen on making an offer?

Price is reasonable but MK2's usually take a while to sell.
Is this the only place you've advertised? Try ebay/carsales for a wider audience & prepare to be patient.

Thanks - will do. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't set it at the wrong price. I'll list it on Carsales from April 4th.

              Update 11/4/11

              Recently replaced/repaired

Replaced Oil filter & Oil Change (January 2011 / 1000kms)

              Replaced wiper blades

These items not required for RWC

Inspect rear wiper motion (not sure if contact is loose, was working, since stopped)
Install new heater matrix (currently bypassed - should be done this Friday)
Check status of A/C. Sold to me as needing a regass - I haven't inspected further.
Minor other items - small tear in front drivers seat, front speakers dead (rear ones still loud)

These items may required for RWC

Front suspension strut/shocks need replacing = $200-250 = $400-500 (I've seen these far cheaper on eBay, though may be of differing quality)
That's all - everything else repaired.

                Transport to QLD

Hi, would you be keen to have it transported to Brisbane?
and if so anyone know how much it would cost?

What is your email, I am keen to try and strike up a deal...
