VIC Mk1 golf - 2 or 4 door - vic.

its now time i am seriously looking at getting a mk1, made my end of year savings goal for a car so now i'm on the prowl.
looking for a 2 or 4 door (i'm not phased) mk1 golf, preferably a GLS (would also contemplate a GLD)
only conditions are...
-little to no rust
-mechanically good (not toooooo much mechanical know-how)
-aesthetically doesn't have to be too pleasing (planning on respray/reupholster etc)
stock or modded i'm not phased, rego/rwc is a bonus.

looking at spending 1-2k depending on condition etc.

You can have my 2 door for $2500. Its regoed and has coil overs. But you would have to come get it from the sunshine coast.
