As per the title I have a friend looking for:

GEN 4 GTI or SPORT - No/Minimal mods or
MK3 VR6 - No/Minimal mods

$10,000 budget on each.

If there are any leads out there please let me know. Ideally in VIC

matey VR6's are always well under $10k, careful though they are quite a money pit.

maybe stretch the budget another couple of k and grab a mk4 GTI

Yeah its for a Chef at work... bit wary of the VR6 money pit, hence the minimal mods request. I think he will be having a bit of look on car sales but if anyone knows of a quality vehicle up for sale that is even on carsales just let us know.

Friends don't let friends buy MK3 VR6's. Make him get a MK4 GTI.

Never had any reliability issues too horrible on mine. I personally believe 6cyls take the kms better than 4 pot turbos.

Consider the Bora 4motion...best of both worlds (minus the 6cyl rego bollocks... VR6 = 4.8L Patrol hmmmm).

Ha well mine cost me $5k in <6 months. Just sayin'.
